Do keep your LCD clean with soft lint free micro fibre cloth,
specialist LCD wipe, never use glass cleaner, or anything that contains vinegar or ammonia,
do not spray directly on screen so that it leaked into casing.
Do use surge protection AC to protect your laptop from electrical surges in your AC power supply,
its a lot cheaper than replacing a burn out Hard Drive or modem. This is especially important if you live in
a place with frequent thunderstorms and lightning.
Take out your battery if you use your laptop with power cable plugged in for long time periods.
Consider getting a laptop bag that does not look like a typical laptop bag, such as messenger or backpack styles rather that
corporate looking black bag that screams "laptop inside", so you avoid alerting potential laptop thieves.
Don't
Do not carry your Laptop around with CD or DVD in the drive.
Do not put your Laptop near magnets.
Do not poke your LCD screen with your finger or pen and pencil.
Do not check in your laptop while traveling by plane, carrying it onboard reduces any shock impact from rough baggage handling.
Do not leave your laptop in extreme temperatures like in a in a boot of car on a hot or extremely cold day.
Do not leave your laptop in your car where it can be seen from the window.
Do not let your laptop out of sight in public places, always leave it with a friend, member of staff or someone you trust if you
have to leave it unattended.
Emergency Spills:
Soak up as much liquid as possible with a towel or tissue.
If you have warranty with covers accidents, tip out the excess liquid and call for service.
If your warranty does not cover spills, soak up as mush liquid as possible, tip your laptop to the side were the spill is nearest
the edge of your laptop, use a hair dryer with on a cool setting to dry it through the vents, do not open your laptop, as it may void your warranty.
