How to Revive a Laptop Battery
All Batteries die....eventually
The most common cause of dead Laptop Batteries using your laptop while it's plug in to AC Power WITHOUT taking out the battery
over long periods of time. The continual re-charging and discharging of your Laptop battery shortens its life, it may not be
noticeable at first, but you end up with less than 1 min of charge eventually. This is the reason why shops display
Laptops with the batteries taken out. Here's a few steps you can take to revive it. Although
you can never revive it to an as-new condition, its a quick fix that could save buying a replacement battery.
- Run your laptop on battery until there is 0% charge left, check your power management tool or mouse over the battery icon
if you have it displayed on your task bar (right hand side).
- Take out your Laptop battery and put it in 2 zip-lock or grip seal plastic bag (double bag it), this is important to keep out moisture.
- Put it in your freezer for a few days.
- Take the battery out of the bag and let it come back to room temperature on its own, be patient,
leave it in a ventilated space, do not use a hair dryer or expose to direct sunlight to warm it up faster
to room temperature and never use it while its still cold or hot.
- Once it's back at room temperature, wipe off any condensation including the contact points.
- Prime your battery by fully charging and discharging 3 times just like when you break in a new Battery.
If this does not work, then you may have to send it off a battery repair service to replace the internal cells or
look for a spare one online at places like ebay, Craigslist etc.
