Don't let it out of your sight

Laptops are high value density items, which make them good target for thieves. The best way to avoid laptop theft happening to you, is to not let it out of your sight when you are carrying it around. If you ever have to leave it alone, try to hand it to a member of staff to keep behind the counter rather than asking a complete stranger to watch it while you go to the toilet.

Laptops are small and light making them easy to steal, so don't leave it in your car in view of the window, its always best to take it with you, (never leave it in the boot if it exposes your laptop to extreme hot or cold temperatures). If you absolutely have to leave it in the, make sure you can see it from the window, trying hiding it under your car seat or under some newspaper, road map, but only as a last resort.

Most Laptop bags look the same, in standard black, to make your bag instantly recognizable to yourself, try tagging it with something bright, eye catching and easy to spot, so if someone walks away with it, you notice it straight away.

These video clips show how easy it is to lose your laptop and all the information it contains so you can stop it happening to you.
